You know ChatGPT is as good as the input ( = the prompt).
But why should you care about knowing how to prompt?
Shouldn’t you just… ask ChatGPT to prompt better?
Yes & no. You have two options.
Use my free GPT “Prompt Maker” inside ChatGPT.
It has over 700,000+ users to convert bad prompt into good ones.
I will show you in this newsletter exactly how to best use it.
I just updated it today for this newsletter :)
Or you will learn prompt engineering yourself.
Chain-of-Thought prompting.
Zero vs. Few-shot prompting.
Role - Ask - Steps - Example(s) - Iteration.
…
If you already subscribed to
(my Substack), you will eventually master all of the above. But let’s focus today on my free “Prompt Maker”.How can I use it?
Go to ChatGPT > on the left menu > click on “GPTs”.
Or click on this: https://chatgpt.com/g/g-hhh4w3eov-prompt-maker.
You will see this menu (which is known as a “GPT” or custom ChatGPT):
If you click on the top left, you can see people’s reviews on it (click “About”):
Let’s start using it now.
From a bad to a good prompt
Example #1: Linkedin hooks
I prompted: “A prompt to write drastically different hooks for a Linkedin post I share.” Here’s my Prompt Maker’s answer:
Is it the best prompt possible for such task? No.
Is it a fantastic start from a one-liner terrible prompt? The best you could have.
Now you only have to copy it & paste it on a new ChatGPT chat.
I made the Prompt Maker so it always creates a “Copy” button at the top right.
When copying & pasting, be careful with the green text: it says “Insert Linkedin post here” so it’s up to you to insert it the right way. To do so, I write this:
/// what I’m about to share ///
[WHAT I SHARE]
/// what I’m about to share ///
I picked a random Linkedin post, paste it there, and chose the model (top left) o3.
You end up with this monstrous prompt… but it’s actually only 2 steps:
From your bad prompt → to the Prompt Maker → to a better prompt to copy.
Paste it on a new ChatGPT chat → paste your own Linkedin post → choose the model o3 (at the top left).
That’s it. And that’s the results:
You want a different twist? Select another model to write (GPT-4.5 is also good).
You want to use another LLM than ChatGPT? Let’s go for Claude.
Pro tip: Use Claude-Opus 4 + Extended thinking.
Example #2: Newsletter

Copied it & pasted it with the model “o3”:
The answer actually blew me away.
It’s so long & detailed & on point I can’t screenshot the whole thing.
Instead, I created a link from my conversation so you can have a look:
