I think you missed an important point or may be as you use Claude more , it hasn’t affected you. The projects that were originally in my ChatGPT have disappeared in the new app. The open AI release notes state that you will still keep ChatGpt old app renamed as classic but not for me and for loads of people. Any views on that?
i had projects inside my old ChatGPT and they showed up in the new app. they said old Projects should appear under the regular Chat/Projects sidebar as long as you’re signed into the same account and workspace. its more likely OpenAI’s desktop app sync is very buggy, and they know.
Exactly! I don’t see any of my GPTs, chat history or projects. It is practically like to start again from scratch and this is very inconvenient :( or maybe I just can’t find it somewhere? Any experience with that, anyone?
1/ click on the account/workspace menu and select the correct workspace: personal for personal Projects and GPTs or your Business/Team workspace for items created there.
2/ a Chat sidebar will pop up. sign in with the same account.
all your chat history, Projects, and GPTS should be visible in the same Chat sidebar.
I don't pick. Claude builds, GPT reviews: the plan before the work that matters, then the result. Claude fixes what's worth fixing, GPT does one last pass.
That's been more useful to me than asking which one is universally "better", mostly because I don't want the model that did the work to be the only one judging it. Have you tried them as a pair rather than as substitutes?
your workflow is good. i just don't run a strict Claude-build, GPT-review, or vice versa split. sometimes i do on simple tasks. but right now for most of my tasks, Claude is just better for how i work, the review included.
a lot of users have reported the same thing. its quite tricky to find them:
1/ click on the account/workspace menu and select the correct workspace: personal for personal Projects and GPTs or your Business/Team workspace for items created there.
2/ a Chat sidebar will pop up. sign in with the same account.
your Projects and GPTS should then be visible in the same Chat sidebar.
Lol… it's super weird to see ChatGpt forcing you to pay 1000s$ when you can download OpenClaw and use Deepseek V4 Pro.. at the fraction of the cost. And it's more fun building all of this by yourself
you're the 1% who actually plays with the tech (i mean that as a compliment, and i get why people prefer OpenClaw and Deepseek). but majority of my readers, even those who aren’t, are just fine with ChatGPT or Claude. they want to open an app and get their work done.
I’m 50/50 on the value openAI or a Chinese model owner will do to me long term. It’s a “what brand of wood chipper would you rather throw your beloved into?” Type question.
As the CEO/only employee/tea boy of my newsletter about "learning in public"... (unicorn in the making! 🦄) 😅
I've been using Claude as my daily driver and sharing what I learn with my readers. I'm thinking of switching to ChatGPT for a month to test it properly.
Would you recommend making the switch now, or waiting a bit until things settle down and the landscape is a little less... confusing?
you can try it now, but you may be better off with an individual plan for more usage. the limits are brutal right now. a combination of model, effort, speed is a lot.
I was waiting for a Work vs Cowork guide. This was such a good read. Kind of helped me catch up with what’s new with ChatGPT since I haven’t used it in so long. Also how come it’s usage limit is so terrible? That was their edge imo to Claude.
I quit ChatGPT ages ago right BEFORE Dario stood up to the Secretary of “War” because it had become the thought police here in the US so my knowledge is a bit old. ChatGPT consumer has three or maybe 4 tiers: $8, $20, $100, and $200. Why didn’t you try that? What is the difference between Consumer and Business?
EDIT: I’m on the $20 Claude plan and I hit my Fable limits all the times.
good question. i tested on a business plan because that's the question i want this piece to answer: what happens when a company of 150+ people wants to move off Claude? i have a team and we work under the same workspaces on both Claude and ChatGPT. i wanted the same $100 plan like Claude but for ChatGPT business and enterprises. they don’t have it. i already pay $30/seat for ChatGPT (4 seats) then i have to put a $100 in for extra credits.
Hi Ruben thanks for your explanations and comenta about the new ChatGPT. A question: on Claude I have been using the personalized “styles”. I created a style for my work as a researcher in chemist and another style for my hobby as a poet (creating poems). Is it possible to do this in the new chatGPT too? Thanks again and best regards!
ChatGPT and Claude both have their strengths, but it sounds like Claude is currently winning for you. Have you tried any specific features in ChatGPT that you think could sway your decision?
nothing's swayed me yet. our current $100/month plan is miles better than ChatGPT’s $20/mo. my team and i work under one workspace i’m not sure how that will fare with ChatGPT’s usage limits. i don’t see and feel the need to switch right now.
I think the 30 combinations screenshot and your closing line about paying for AI the team doesn't touch are basically the same point. Every extra picker is another spot where someone gives up and quietly goes back to doing it the old way. And the $17k at least shows up on an invoice, the giving-up mostly doesn't show up anywhere.
that's one of the problems in AI adoption. the model can be Sol-Ultra smart. doesn't matter if the interface makes people give up before they even ask their question.
So OpenAI is coping Claude and Apple too? What's up with them?
"Apple sued OpenAI on Friday for allegedly stealing its trade secrets, an extraordinary move that pits the $4.6 trillion iPhone maker against the fast-growing AI startup as it prepares to release a new class of hardware products that have been shaped in large part by Apple’s former design boss."
You mentioned
1 - Uninstall the old ChatGPT app (if you had it before).
2 - You must have a paid account (at least $20/month).
I never had to Uninstall, it auto upgraded & started working; also mine is FREE version
its good you never had to. maybe OpenAI's doing the rollout by account type, or region, who knows.

Are they archived?
Hi Rubin, thanx a lot!
Did you officially downgrade to once a week?
I really miss it - twice a week. I wish you would write a new one every day...
yes, i did. i don’t have enough time to publish twice a week and the quality could be slipping. i don’t want that. its not fair to the community.
Maybe the apps compete more than the models do.

Some of us won’t touch the Chinese models.

both labs are hitting the same wall. unlimited felt great when compute was cheap. it isn't cheap anymore.

Can we get a how to on midjourney to chat image production?
sure, my piece about how i make infographics is still in the works so i might have to squeeze in Midjourney :)
I am not a tech person but have always used Claude and decided to try ChatGPT. That lasted less than a week.
Claude is still the best LLM for me. especially since i could not get anything done with ChatGPT’s usage. curious what killed it for you?

ChatGPT doesn't have a direct feature for Styles. the closest you can do is either build a custom GPT or have two separate Projects in ChatGPT.
Interesting… Thanks a lot!!!

well copying Cowork and stealing trade secrets are two very different things.
Always a great read. Thanks Ruben for all of the great insight.
appreciate it. let me know what you find on your test :)
